Aluminum silicon master alloy is one of aluminum master alloy/aluminum-based alloy.

Aluminum master alloys are semi-finished products. Aluminum master alloys are alloys that are added to molten metal to obtain the desired composition and/or influence the as-cast structure. Master alloys can contain more than 50 weight per cent of the main alloying element. They can be produced by melting or by mixing the individual constituents and then compacting them. They are used instead of a pure metal because they are very economical and save energy and production time.

Aluminum silicon master alloy is the one mix with silicon. Silicon reduces the melting temperature without causing brittleness, increases fluidity, and reduces hot tearing. This improves overall casting characteristics allowing for thinner and more intricate castings to be made. Silicon additions can reduce the amount casting shrinkage and in general Aluminum-Silicon Alloys have been resistance to corrosion.
