What are the uses of Barium metal?

The main use of barium metal is as a degassing agent to remove trace gases in vacuum tubes and television tubes. Adding a small amount of barium into the lead alloy of the battery plate can improve the performance.

Barium can also be used as

1. Medical purposes: Barium sulfate is commonly used in medical imaging procedures such as X-rays and CT scans. 2. Glass and ceramics: Barium is used as a flux in the production of glass and ceramics.

3. Petroleum industry: Barite, a mineral composed of barium sulfate, is used as a weighting agent in drilling fluids in the petroleum industry.

4. Fireworks: Barium compounds are sometimes used to create vivid green colors in fireworks.

5. Electronics: Barium titanate is used as a dielectric material in capacitors and other electronic components. 6. Rubber and plastic: Barium is used as a stabilizer in the production of rubber and plastic.

7: nodulizing agent and degassing alloy for making nodular cast iron and refining metal.

Barium compounds are widely used, and barite can be used as drilling mud. Lithopone, commonly known as lithopone, is a commonly used white pigment. Barium titanate piezoelectric ceramics are widely used as transducers in instruments. Barium salts (such as barium nitrate) are bright green and yellow when burned, and are widely used to make fireworks and signal bombs. Barium sulfate is often used for medical X-ray gastrointestinal examination, commonly known as "barium meal radiography".
