It is a colorless transparent liquid of perfluorinated carbon. A colloidal ultrafine emulsion composed of perfluorinated naphthalene and other perfluorinated compounds, as an artificial blood, has good oxygen carrying capacity. Uses Perfluorodecalin is a fluorous solvent generally used as a primary component of the fluorous biphasic system (FBS) or the fluorous multiphasic system (FMS) in synthetic chemistry. It is also used as an additive to increase oxygen solubility in fermentation media.
